EXCHANGE SERIES:
12 DEC 2011-12 JAN 2012:
DALSTON

8 shops, 8 designers, 8 visual dialogues
over Christmas and New Year.

The Exchange Series project is a dialogue between
shopkeepers and designers through 8 small interventions into the landscape of Dalston's main high street.

8 artists and designers have created bespoke works within 8 host shops, exploring the conditions of place, space, ownership and audience. Each installation responds to its context as a site for display but also considers its commercial function, recognising it as a cultural space with an established local identity.

Each collaboration represents the coming together of two different work practices – an interaction between retail and design, between service and artwork - that is situated in time and place from 2011 to 2012, on Kingsland Road, Kingsland High Street and Stoke Newington Road.
